Horton Park Boat Ramp To Be Closed for Barge Loading on July 22
The Horton Park boat ramp will be closed from 7:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22. The closure is necessary to load a barge that was used to take soil samples as part of the Caloosahatchee Connect project.
Horton Park, which is located at 2600 SE 26th Place, will remain open while the boat ramp is closed.
The Caloosahatchee Connect project is a joint project between the City of Cape Coral and the City of Fort Myers to construct a pipeline under the River to transmit reclaimed water from Fort Myers to Cape Coral. The water will provide Cape Coral with additional irrigation water for lawn watering and fire protection purposes. The reclaimed water transmission pipeline will also allow the City of Fort Myers to reduce the need to discharge this water into the River.
